I Am a Runner!

I ran 10 miles last Saturday~my first double digit run in weeks~and no problems! Woo Hoo!

Over the past few months I have been a little, no, a lot discouraged with the fact that I won't be able to do my 40 by 40. (finances).  But as I ran on Saturday, I realized, ironically, I am a runner! It doesn't matter if I don't run this race or that race, what matters is that I keep running. For alone time, for weight loss, for a faster time, whatever the goal may be. It is not the race that defines me as a runner, it's the fact that my feet hit the pavement every morning and I feel good doing it! I have been running for over 14 years, I have run 11 marathons, I guess I can call myself a "veteran" now, right? No matter what though, at the end of the day, I AM A RUNNER!

Love this blog! Great reminder that we aren't defined by the race. I'll remember this one, especially since the budget is tight around here too.

If 11 marathons hasn't made you a runner, I don't know what will!

Glad your 10-miler went well - YAY!

YIPPEE Double digit run!! The cost of racing is CRAZY.. YOu are soooo right that it does not matter if you are in a race, the fact that you are out there is what makes you a runner...I need to remind myself of that so Thank you for that!! I feel like as a "Rookie" that I need to prove myself by competeing or beating my PR's when really all I need to do is simply R...U...N... :)

You certainly are a runner! And there are many years of running and marathons ahead of you.

Absolutely! You are a great runner.

Glad you had an awesome 10-miler.

With my one marathon under my belt, I know running is a part of me---hopefully forever!

If I'm calling myself a runner after 1.5 years and one marathon...You are DEFINITELY a runner!

You were a runner long before the 11 marathons, but you are most certainly a runner now. :o)

Enjoy those runs-it doesn't matter if they are races or not.

Hi Stacey!
Yes, you SO are a runner! 11 marathons?! WOW! Plus you get to run in Hawaii. I was reading previous postings and looking at the pictures. Talk about motivation to run. It's beautiful there. Keep on running, woman! P.S. If I win the lottery, I'll be your running sponsor! :-)

I am a runner from Fayetteville, AR training for my first marathon either late this year or early next year. It's people like you who inspire me to push myself in going the distance! I'll check in on you from time to time. By the way, I am so jealous that you live and run in Hawaii!

We all have our own "relationship" with running...but as long as it's always "there" for us, it's all good! I agree with you...it's not the races, the medals, etc, it's your feet hitting the road. You rock! :-)

BTW, I have tried cayene for my Husky...works for awhile, then she digs anyway. Sigh. I might try chicken wire...just has to be HIGH, because of course she can jump too! :-)

Wow. What a great blog! I just finished my first half marathon a couple of weeks ago and now I am hooked on running. I will be training for my first marathon in the fall. Your story is an inspiration to me!
