Thank you for all the nice comments! I love being part of the running/blogging community and having all your encouragement and support. I realized after I did my last post how whiney I sounded. I didn't mean to be Debby Downer, I was just venting. And no, I am not giving into the negativity! Running makes me feel good, strong and healthy! Why would I stop? My knees looked great..the X-rays showed no signs of arthritis, which apparently, according to the doc, is common in runners.
My 5 mile run this morning was a success. There were a few weird twinges in my IT band on the side of my knee, so I walked a few times and I walked down the major hill on my route. I also tried to keep my stride a bit shorter than normal. We will see how it feels later today..but so far, so good! :)
My most favorite thing after a hot and sweaty run is ice cold watermelon! There just isn't anything much better!
Keep running!

Whoo HOO! Glad your runs are feeling fine again.
You have inspired me. I was thinking of holding off till Monday AM for my first in awhile, but I will go tonight! Lookout IT Band!
Love your blog! I sympathize with your knee issues. I have osteoarthritis in my knee due to an injury. I tore the miniscus & damaged every tendons type structure. I love running, it keeps me sane. Lol. Every now & then it plays up but I always wear a knee strap to help keep my kneecap more stable & my natural way to run is midfoot strike. I tried heel once but it made my knee worse. I try to cope without anti inflammatorys but I do use them if my knee is so bad for a long time. I'm 36, over weight but losing it, all thanks to running. I understand your love for running. Keep up the good work & hope your work with a foam roller stretches out your ITB, you'll be fine soon. X
I'm still thinking about you're IT band and all of that stuff...just don't give up. There are so many things you can do to get yourself strong and back on to the road. I wish I could show you a few of the stretches that have saved me AND some of the strengthening exercises. Remember, in December I walked home from a 14 long run with my whole left leg seized up and I didn't run for a few days and received some tissue work, stretching and then started out doing my own thing at home and raced in January(marathon)and Boston in April...and I'm still running! This will work out, don't worry!
i totally can relate to what you're going through. hang in there and i hope you're feeling better.
Totally agree on the watermelon. Just mentioned it in my last post as the best post race food!
Try complementing that watermelon with ice cold chocolate milk, a winning combination.
oh man anything cold and lightly-sweet is amazing after a hot summer run. even just plain water never tasted so good!
Whoot!! Glad you're feeling better. Take it easy and STRETCH. ALL THE TIME!
And you can vent all you want. You've walked us all through plenty. It doesn't hurt to get some inspiration and good vibes back from your friends. That's what we're here for.
I'm new to your blog, but getting inspiration from it!
Good luck with the IT band issues!
I hope that IT band keeps getting better.
Great!!
Just came across your blog. Sorry for your ailment. I too have experienced IT issues in the past. I actually did the Utah Valley Marathon last month and rest assured you missed a soggy race. Looks like I will be running some of the same races as you so I look forward to following your blog! Good luck, and don't push the IT band, ease back in... :)
I too have suffered IT band issues in the past. Ease back in so it won't continues to be an issue for a long time! I ran the Utah Valley Marathon and it was quite soggy. Finished feeling ok but I was wringing out my clothes for 4 miles. ;) Looks like we'll be running some of the same races this year so I'm excited to follow your blog! Good luck with your knee!
Your blog is awesome.
You are inspiring. injuries/pain sucks but you'll get through it - even stronger. :)
Arn't fellow bloggers the FREAKIN BEST?! glad to hear your doing well!
